5 Things to Do Immediately After Posting a Reel
Most creators tap Share, close the app and hope. But the first minutes after you post are when Instagram figures out who to show your Reel to next. Early saves, shares, comments and replies tell it your content deserves a bigger audience.
Here's a simple routine for right after you post.
1. Give your Reel its first signal
In the first few minutes, like it, save it and share it to your Story. It isn't a magic trick — it just means your Reel starts with activity instead of silence.
2. Start the conversation yourself
Leave one or two genuine comments on your own post. Ask a question, add something that didn't fit in the caption, or say who you help. You're giving people an easy reason to reply — and a reason to follow.
3. Spell out what it's about
Instagram can't read your mind. Use the words people would actually search for — in your caption and in your comment. That's how people who've never seen you before find you.
4. Open a second door with hashtags
Add 2–3 hashtags in your comment that are different from the ones in your caption. Every relevant tag is one more way for new people to discover your Reel.
5. Bring your followers in through Stories
Share the Reel to your Story with a question sticker. It's the easiest way for your existing followers to jump in — and real replies from real people are exactly the signal you want.
Bonus: don't panic about a critical comment
If someone pushes back, don't delete it. Pin it and let your audience respond. A lively thread is engagement — and engagement is reach.
Posting is step one. What you do in the next few minutes is step two.
